The Scars of War

Mildura Arts Centre Collection
Garry Shead’s controversial assemblage work War Grave, 1968, Ian Howard’s Orwellian construction Tower Block, 1988, and Avdo Sahic’s figurative sculpture Enough is Enough, 1994, are powerful statements on the futility of armed conflict in this new exhibition of works from the Mildura Arts Centre Collection.
Contemporary commentary and reflection is provided in works by Dean Bowen, Annabel Nowlan, and Roger Noakes, while paintings and sketches by Sir William Orpen and Sir Frank Brangwyn extend considerations of the personal and social legacies of war back to the battlefields of WWI.
