Actions of Light

Mildura Arts Centre Collection
Exhibition: Thursday 2 March – Sunday 2 April
The capture of images by various means of manipulating light has become as much a part of our first world everyday experience as breathing itself. We carry the technology to snap still photographs or record motion pictures that we can then instantaneously share throughout the virtual sphere.
In the exhibition titled Actions of Light, works from the Mildura Arts Centre Collection have been selected to demonstrate some of the numerous techniques of drawing with light, many of which fall into the category of “photography” [from the Greek photos (“light”) and graphein (“to draw”)].

Actions of Light, however, goes beyond the usual presentation of contemporary still and moving image photography by also showing works created via other methods of manipulating light to form an image.
